The row of flame trees on the slope of Small Mountain leading up to the lighthouse is in full bloom, drawing crowds of locals and visitors to take photos.

Around early May, visitors to Vung Tau find the flame trees blooming along Hai Dang road – the road that winds up Small Mountain, 170 m above sea level. Small Mountain is also known as Tao Phung mountain.

At the end of the road is the lighthouse, built by the French more than 100 years ago. It is considered the symbol of the seaside city and attracts many visitors to Vung Tau.

Flame trees are planted widely in Vung Tau, but the row on Hai Dang road stands out for its dense blossoms, with canopies just over 3 m above the road.

At weekends, crowds of locals and visitors to Vung Tau come to take photos.

With their smartphones, two young women take photos and share them straight to social media.

"What's great is that this spot has beautiful flowers with the city of Vung Tau below as a backdrop. My friend and I took lots of photos we really like," said Phuong, a visitor from Dong Nai.

Dozens of trees are planted along the foot of the slope.

It is the end of the dry season and the trees on the mountain are bare, so the flame trees really stand out.
